Florida Access Network Launches Statewide Campaign Urging Floridians to Join the Fight for Abortion Access
Campaign will showcase billboards and digital ads designed by local artist Lizzie Suarez
FLORIDA — Today, the Florida Access Network (FAN) launched a new statewide campaign to raise awareness about the essential role abortion funds play in making reproductive care a reality for Floridians. The campaign features billboards and convenience store ads in North and Central Florida, statewide digital ads, and a call to action for Floridians to get involved, volunteer, and fight abortion stigma in their everyday lives.
The campaign, which promotes the message “The Future of Florida: Where Abortion Access is a Reality,” comes at a crucial time as the state’s restrictive six-week abortion ban, enacted in May, continues to limit access to care in the state significantly. With more Floridians forced to travel out of state for abortion services, FAN is dedicating its resources to meeting clients’ logistical needs, including travel expenses, accommodation, and childcare.
“Abortion funds like ours have always been the backbone of reproductive care access,” said Stephanie Loraine Pineiro, executive director of the Florida Access Network. “We can’t sit idly by and wait for the courts or lawmakers to hand us the Florida we deserve. This campaign sends a clear message that we must come together as a community if we are going to build a future where everyone in Florida can access the care they need with dignity and compassion.”
To add a creative and local touch to the campaign, FAN partnered with Lizzie Suarez, a Florida-based artist, who designed the eye-catching visuals for the billboards. Suarez’s work reflects the resilience and strength of Floridians fighting for reproductive justice, with imagery that inspires action and solidarity. Suarez’s art will be seen on billboards in areas including Orlando, Jacksonville, Gainesville, and Tallahassee beginning his week, as well as in convenience stores and digital ads around the state.
“Having the chance to create artwork for FAN’s abortion visibility campaign was such an honor, especially as an artist born and raised in Florida,” said Suarez. “Anyone who has done a road trip in our beautiful state is familiar with how ridiculous, false, and absurd the anti-abortion billboards are. It’s important to disrupt that visual landscape with pro-abortion messages that envision a freer, safer Florida for millions of us who call the state home. Floridians deserve to feel safe here with access to the care they need.”
As part of the campaign, the billboards and digital ads will invite Floridians to join FAN in the ongoing fight for reproductive justice and sexual liberation, reinforcing that elections come and go, but the future of Florida is shaped by those willing to stand up for basic human rights.
“We’re not backing down. Despite the relentless attacks, we believe in a Florida where we can all live our best lives, love who we love, and access the reproductive care we need,” continued Pineiro. “Floridians have always needed abortion care, and they always will. We’re here to ensure they get it, no matter what."
